Train with VExercise in the Streets
What started off as group exercise classes in impoverished cities in the United States I was traveling to for my own competitions, turned into running clinics and free running shoes in juvenile hall in Santa Clara County. When the pandemic hit we began supplying exercise bags, running shoes (we go out and buy their exact sizes), socks, sweatshirts, exercise equipment and toiletries to all foster youth in the Santa Clara County.
Each Bag contains about $250 in goods.
If you know me personally or have read my book, I grew up around violence, poverty, and crime. I feel lucky everyday to have escaped that life due to a few non-family people who picked me up and showed me I didn’t have to live that way. Running saved my life and continues to make my life better today.
We delivered 220 bags to Foster Youth and Youth Group Homes in 2021 and will continue this in 2022. Since the non-profit began, we have delivered over 500 exercise bags.
For 2022, due to your generous donations, we have now added senior centers to the mix and have delivered bags and done group walk/runs in senior centers in downtown San Jose. Exercise is so important as we age.
Thank you for your generous donations. I accept financial donations through PayPal or Checks to Exercise in the Streets.
Checks can be mailed to 2477 Forest Ave San Jose CA 95128. I also accept brand new exercise equipment or brand new shoes or sweatshirts especially in adult sizes if they are high end brands.
